How to use Care Cards for Listen Pray Care

As a pastor and teacher in churches and schools in South Dakota and Wisconsin,

I learned that if you want to follow up with someone, it is immensely helpful to be prepared to share contact information for the purpose of follow-up.

I suppose that is the case when making business contacts as well, but it was much easier to hand someone a card with contact information on it than to scramble for pieces of paper that can get lost, or figuring out how to get it to another person’s cell phone.

Listen Pray Care groups are not based on fixed membership. The groups are fluid and made up of whoever is in your seating area at the time. So one of the big questions is, “How do we follow-up with someone after the Listen Pray Care group time?” You might not even see a person in your group again--for weeks or more!

Give creating a Care Card some consideration.  As the video (above) also discusses, intentionally thinking through how someone might contact you beyond the Listen Pray Care time gives you a chance to think about the kind of information you wish to share. This is one of my favorite things about the cards--you can simply share your name and phone number. Or just an email. Also, having a prepared card makes sure they can read it (you really don’t want to try to read some people’s handwriting).

They are customizable, of course, but they should look something like this:
